Emerging trends in real estate
Emerging Trends in Real Estate®: Europe 2022
Emerging Trends in Real Estate®: Europe 2022
While the residential sector continues to appeal to the industry due to its defensive fundamentals, investors are aware that housing remains a political hot potato.
Elsewhere, logistics retains its lustre as a pandemic winner, while the appealing income profiles of data centres, new energy infrastructure and life sciences all underline the continued enthusiasm around alternatives and operational real estate.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the survey confirms that the hegemony of offices and retail is over in terms of allocations, whereas there is a feeling of “wait and see” around the office sector.
Some respondents are enthusiastic about the future of flexible, prime assets, while others envisage an inevitable contraction in overall demand.

Rightmove reports record UK home prices
  • Average property price hits record £360,101
  • 9.9% price growth in the year to April
  • Properties selling faster than ever
  • 73% of transactions chain-free so far in 2022
Its house price index shows asking prices growing 1.6% month-on-month, or £5,537, bringing the average property price to £360,101 in April.
Annual price growth stood at 9.9%.
In April this year, the average length of time to sell was 33 days, less than half the 67 days recorded in the same month three years ago.
Rightmove says more than half (53%) of properties are selling for over their final, advertised asking price.
Chain-free transactions
A separate report from estate agent Hamptons has found that a record proportion of UK homes are being bought by buyers without a home to sell.
Metaverse may be an $800 billion market
The global Metaverse revenue opportunity could approach $800 billion in 2024 vs. about $500 billion in 2020, based on the analysis of PWC, Statista and Two Circles data.
The primary market for online game makers and gaming hardware may exceed $400 billion in 2024 while opportunities in live entertainment and social media make up the remainder.
